I read that walking around with no pants on is the fate of the slug [according to the Brazilian poet Manuel de Barros]. The next day I find a slug slithering across the kitchen floor. The passage of the little animal is reflected in the sunlight that comes through the winter mornings. Its past still shines through, we might say. I decide to get my old pair of skates out of the closet. Doing so becomes inevitable:
1. Slipping into a memory. [A boy who tries out hairstyles in the shower, long braids, high buns, the femme fatale, soap opera actresses, just with shampoo. A few moments later, a dry towel and the open window dispelling the bath mist completely undo that parallel world].
2. Falling. [You have to come to your senses. Only by falling can you learn to skate. Falling again, falling, falling, falling, falling, falling into yourself. And remember: the ground is the limit.]
A performative action on wheels that takes place on the street, at twilight, as night arrives. A solo by Brazilian performer and dancer Renato Linhares that proposes a choreographic, sparkling and fast conversation on roller skates, filled with fury, pushing, drowning, blowing, or any and all impulses necessary to enter the childhood home, the worm tunnel, the hardness of a fall.
